Electrical installations nearly always require a little more elbow grease than initially thought. In my case, the original fixture was of a certain age (cloth covered electrical wires and a larger central post than modern installations have), so I needed to adapt the original fixture to the components provided here. Once I'd finished with that, the rest of the installation went smoothly. Note that if you want to shorten the cord, you'll need to re-knot and re-strip the wiring. The fixture itself is quite attractive, with a nicely formed glass bubble that's open at the bottom for ease of changing the light bulb. The vintage light bulb (incandescent, not LED) that's included in the set is perfect for my older home. The only thing I'd change is the darkness of the wood canopy, which is consistent with 1960s and forward appearance, but not so much with the older walnuts and cherries found in Victorians. But that's easily modified prior to (or even after) installation. All the parts here fit together nicely, are well made, and the unit is unlikely to cause any electrical difficulties as the years pass.
